Kujichaguilia is a Swahili term that means self-determination, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves. It is the second of the seven principles of Kawanzaa. The K-Club assists young men and women ages 16-26 of Afro Caribbean and other ethno-cultural heritage to successfully transition to meaningful family and community life.
Culturally-attuned staff combines individual counselling and group support to help prepare the youth for a successful future.
Through confidential individual and group counselling, K-Club members will receive assistance with:
- Transitioning to School
- Transition to employment
- Anger and Stress Management
- Building Self-Esteem
- Forming positive relationships with family and friends
- Tapping into Community Resources
- Drug and alcohol misuse and abuse
- Conflict Resolution
- Development Empathy
The K-Club has had tremendous success in re-integrating at-risk youth into the Community.
The JCA Social Services is being separated from the membership and renamed Caribbean African Canadian Social Services (CAFCAN). CAFCAN will continue to deliver the high quality programs and services to the community at large.
