JCA Fundraising Concert and Dance
To Assist Tropical Storm Nicole Flood Victims in Jamaica
In response to an appeal for assistance, The Jamaican Canadian Association (JCA) will be hosting a fundraising concert and dance on Friday, November 12, at the JCA Centre, 995 Arrow Road, to assist persons in Jamaica affected by flooding from Tropical Storm Nicole. Unfortunately 13 persons lost their lives due to the passage of the Tropical Storm while over 200 communities were affected, including loss of livestock and property, and damage to schools and other infrastructure. The damage is estimated at several billion dollars and meaningful recovery will take sometime.
Several of Toronto’s featured promoters, entertainers and sound system operators will be donating their talent and other resources for this worthy cause. Various businesses and individuals from the community will also be donating cash and in kind items to ensure a successful effort. A minimum contribution of $10 will be requested at the door for entry to the event which will commence at 7:00 p.m.
The fundraising activity is endorsed by the Jamaican Consulate and Consul General Mr. Seth George Ramocan will be the patron. All proceeds will be donated to the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management and/or Food for the Poor. For more information please call the JCA at 416 746 5772.
